Police Boss Caught Swindling Motorists

A senior policeman based at Marlborough Police Station has been fingered as the brains behind the processing of counterfeit Admission of Guilt deposit fine books (ZJ69) that are being used by “unscrupulous” cops manning roadblocks. This has raised fears that unsuspecting motorists are being issued with fake receipts, with the police officers pocketing the money.

Government has directed that the roadblocks be reduced to four per province and the officers deployed elsewhere. The case came to light after two police constables were arrested in Marlborough recently manning a roadblock with a fake ZJ69 book and implicated Inspector Victor Jaja.

Insp Jaja is responsible for administration at the police station. The two constables were arrested by two senior police officers based at Marlborough Police Station on March 3 following a tip-off and they reportedly told the officers that they had been given the fake receipt book by Insp Jaja.

It is reported that the two constables, whose case is still pending before the courts, however, later changed their statements and alleged that they were given the receipt book by the officer-in-charge.

Although chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba could not be reached for comment yesterday, sources close to the matter confirmed that Insp Jaja was under investigation.

The sources said sometime in 2013, two constables based in Tsholotsho were dismissed from the force after they were found in possession of a fake ZJ69 book. At that time, Insp Jaja was reportedly based at that station, where he was responsible for administration before he was transferred to Beitbridge Police Station.

In Beitbridge, sources said two constables were found in possession of seven fake ZJ69 books and implicated Insp Jaja. Investigations carried out revealed that the fake books had been printed in South Africa and the two junior officers were dismissed from the force.
Insp Jaja was among the more than 500 police officers that Government redeployed from
Beitbridge District to other stations countrywide in August last year.

He was deployed to Marlborough Police Station in Harare. Insp Jaja (42) has been suspended from the force and is yet to appear before a disciplinary hearing. – Herald

Young brother to the late notorious robber and murderer Edmund Edgar Masendeke kidnapped a police officer and robbed him of his vehicle before embarking on a robbing spree around the country.

Andrew Masendeke and his accomplices are now facing several charges, including robbery and car- jacking. His accomplices were Tapiwa Chimuti (29), Anyway Madala (27) and Simbarashe Machiritsa (40) of Ascot Infill high-density suburb in Gweru.

Chimuti was sentenced to 91 years, Madala 76 and Machiritsa 21 when they appeared in court. The other two accomplices, Matrimony Nyathi and Sydney Mangisi, are on the run.

They were linked to armed robbery cases committed in Bulawayo, Zvishavane, Gweru, Shurugwi, Kwekwe and Kadoma. Masendeke and the trio terrorised miners and business people in the Midlands and Bulawayo.

They got away with $25 000, a vehicle and six rifles. Police recovered the vehicle and guns which were used during the robberies. Masendeke, of Mukarati village under Chief Mukaro in Gutu, appeared before Gweru Provincial Magistrate Mrs Phathekhile Msipa yesterday facing seven counts of robbery, carjacking and kidnapping.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to today. The State, led by Mr Ernest Mzembi, alleged that during the period extending from February to June this year, Masendeke and his five accomplices committed a series of robberies in the Midlands and Bulawayo.

Mr Mzembi alleged that on February 19 this year, and at around 8pm, Masendeke robbed Alfred Zvapera, a member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) stationed at Gokwe Traffic.

He kidnapped Zvapera and his friend Ms Faith Ngwenyenyi. Zvapera was driving a Toyota Noah in Mapfungautsi Extension high-density suburb near Kambasha Business Centre in Gokwe when Masendeke and his accomplices stopped him.

Masendeke and his accomplices produced a pistol and demanded valuables. He allegedly fired one shot into the air and ordered the complainant to hand over his motor vehicle.

Zvapera surrendered the vehicle keys, police identity card, a mobile phone and $4. It is alleged Masendeke and his accomplices allegedly forced the two into the vehicle.

They drove to Zesa offices in Gokwe. They ordered Zvapera to disembark from the vehicle and tied his face with a mutton cloth. They then forced him back into the vehicle before driving to Bulawayo.

They held them hostage for two days. The court heard that they robbed mines and business people. Masendeke then fled to Birchenough in Manicaland Province where he changed his name.

He started operating a pirate taxi. Masendeke was involved in an accident in Chipinge. One person died on the spot.

He was arrested following a tip- off.-Herald

An Air Force of Zimbabwe senior officer has been arraigned before the courts on allegations of raping his neighbour’s six-year-old granddaughter.

BY Stephen Chadenga

Warrant officer Class 2 (name withheld) (44), of Thornhill Airbase in Gweru, called the minor to his bedroom where he allegedly raped her.

The officer, who appeared before Gweru provincial magistrate Pathekile Msipa on charges of rape, was granted $100 bail and remanded without plea to July 24. The State alleges that on unknown date in May this year, the complainant was playing with her friend, also aged six, when accused called her to his bedroom.

When the girl entered accused’s bedroom, he allegedly told her that he wanted to have sex with her before pushing her to the bed, undressing and raping her once.

On May 25 at around 2pm, the complainant was in the toilet urinating when her grandmother heard her screaming.

When the grandmother quizzed her on what had happened, the minor said she had fallen from a tree while playing with her friend.

But the grandmother went on to examine her body and discovered that her privates were swollen and had bruises. She took the girl to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where it was discovered that she had been sexually abused.

The girl was taken to the Victim Friendly Court, where she told a nurse that she had allegedly been sexually abused by the accused.

A report was made to the police, leading to the arrested of the accused person.

A JOHANNE Masowe Apostolic sect member allegedly bashed her husband for attending service at Paul Mwazha’s African Apostolic Church before running amok and stripping naked, while at a police station after her arrest.

MAN DIES AFTER FIGHT WITH GIRLFRIEND

This was heard by Beitbridge magistrate Goodswill Mavenge when Susan Mudzengi (43) appeared before him charged with domestic violence and public indecency on Thursday.

She was denied the charges. The magistrate remanded her to June 26 for continuation of trial.Prosecutor Munyonga Kuvarega told the court that the complainant in the matter is Paul Ndlovu (53), who is a headmaster at Nottingham Primary School in Beitbridge and is a member of the African Apostolic Church, while his wife Mudzengi is a member of the Johane Masowe church.

Kuvarega said on May 20 this year Ndlovu returned home from church and Mudzengi started shouting at him for attending Mwazha’s church.

Ndlovu was served with supper by his daughter and when he finished eating, Mudzengi grabbed him by the neck and pushed him to the floor before she sat on him and assaulted him several times with fists. The accused also destroyed Ndlovu’s Bible, anointing oil and Mwazha’s picture.

The complainant managed to escape and reported the matter to the police, leading to Mudzengi’s arrest.

It is alleged that following her arrest, Mudzengi on June 17 on arrival at the police station when she was about to be detained in police cells, became violent and removed all her clothes in full view of male police officers and other people at the charge office.

Mudzengi threw away her clothes and female police officers later grouped around her and  forced her to wear her clothes before she was escorted into the cells.

Widow left empty handed as Chidyausiku leaves entire million dollar estate to children

Ms Farai Kunaka, the youthful woman widely believed to be the widow of Retired Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku, risks walking away empty-handed after the Will authored by the national hero allocated the whole estate to his children. The last Will and Testament that was filed at the Master of High Court’s office appointed Harare lawyer Mr Aston Musunga of Musunga Law Chambers as executor testamentary.

The Master of the High Court has since issued letters of administration certifying Mr Musunga as the executor.

Ms Kunaka, despite being the woman who was always with the late national hero at public functions in his last days, was left out in the distribution plan.

The late national hero jointly owned the Highlands property worth $750 000 with his first wife Ms Mary Chidyausiku and he bequeathed his 50 percent share to two of his sons.

All the household property in the same property was given to the two sons.

“I give and bequeath my half share in Stand 16885 Orange Groove, Highlands in Harare to my sons Tirivangani Chidyausiku and Tadzimirwa Chidyausiku, who shall hold the property in joint and equal shares,” reads part of Justice Chidyausiku’s Will.

“My first wife Mary Chidyausiku shall remain with her current half share in the aforementioned property.”

Justice Chidyausiku in 2010 allocated another property, Stand Number 2371 Bluffhill Township of 2253 Bluffhill Township to Ms Kunaka in her capacity as a “fiancée”.

But he changed his mind in 2014 and gave the property to his two daughters, as indicated by the latest Will.

“I give and bequeath Stand Number 2371 Bluffhill Township of 2253 Bluffhill Township to my children, namely Tendai Chidyausiku and Chipo Chidyausiku in equal shares, share and share alike,” reads the Will. The late Retired Chief Justice gave Tirivangani a farm, Arusha/Chifambi, which is in Goromonzi district.

The rest of the property, according to the Will, should be shared equally among his 11 children.

In an interview, Mr Musunga confirmed the development, saying his task as executor was simply to ensure the properties were identified and distributed in terms of the Will left behind by the late national hero.

“I was appointed by the Will,” he said. “My task as executor is to ensure I identify all the properties belonging to the deceased, collect them and distribute to the listed beneficiaries.

“We will be following what the late judge wrote, thus doing his Will.”

Movable properties forming part of the estate include a Ford Ranger Wild Track and Mercedes Benz.

Justice Chidyausiku died on May 3 this year in Johannesburg, South Africa, after battling kidney and liver problems. He was declared a national hero and subsequently buried at the National Heroes’ Acre.

The late judge died barely three months after retirement.

A 28 year old man from Mkoba Gweru who robbed a man of $50 in a dispute over a $1 he was owed for polony was this week jailed to three years after being convicted of robbery.

Shaibu Hamisi of Mkoba 2 searched Clever Dahula’s trouser pockets before robbing him of $50.

Hamisi will however serve an effective two years and 11months in jail after Gweru Magistrate Musaiona Shotgame suspended one year on condition of good behaviour.

A further one month’s suspended on condition that Hamisi pays restitution to Dahula.

The court heard that on the 24th of April 2017 at around 10pm, the accused was in the company of his friend at Mkoba shopping centre.

The accused saw Dahula and started accusing him of not paying $1 for polony he had given him earlier on.

A misunderstanding arose between the two  men and Hamisi grabbed Dahula by the neck before tripping him to the ground.

Hamisi then removed Dahula’s shoes, searched his trouser pockets before robbing him of $50 and fled from the scene.

Registrar-General (RG)  Tobaiwa Mudede has been taken to the High Court by a Zimbabwe-born British citizen, William Dale Pilbrough, and his family, who are seeking the intervention of the court for the declaration of their rights in terms of their local status.

BY CHARLES LAITON

Registrar-General Tobaiwa Mudede

Registrar-General Tobaiwa Mudede

Pilbrough, his wife Barbara Muriel and minor daughters Cloe and Hanna filed their unopposed court application, which is set to be heard today in which they cited the RG of citizenship and principal director of immigration as respondents.

“This is an application for a declaration of my rights, my wife’s rights and the rights of my two daughters; more particularly, our rights to the citizenship of Zimbabwe and the attendant rights thereto,” Pilbrough said in his founding affidavit.

 Related Posts:

“This application has been necessitated by the need for a final and definitive statement as to my status and my rights on account of the refusal by the first respondent to entertain my request for confirmation of my status as a citizen of Zimbabwe by birth.”

He added: “At the time of my birth, both my parents were citizens of Zimbabwe, then Rhodesia, by registration, as more fully appears from the attached notifications of registration as a citizen of Rhodesia and Nyasaland dated May 16, 1958 and January 23, 1961 respectively.”

Pilbrough further said when he became aware that he was eligible for Zimbabwean citizenship together with his two daughters and that his wife was also eligible for restoration of her Zimbabwean passport, he engaged Nyakutombwa/Mugabe Legal Counsels to act on his behalf, but the lawyers’ efforts had hit a brickwall.

“Upon engaging them further to assert my right, they advised me of inherent difficulties that they had faced at the offices of the first respondent (RG) which include, but not outright hostility towards any claimants for dual citizenship …,” he said.

Pilbrough further said he also went to Mudede’s offices several times, but “was met with hostility on each visit and my efforts were futile”.

“In the circumstances, the same legal counsel have advised that it is best that we approach this court for relief in the form of an order declaring myself and second to fourth applicants to be citizens of Zimbabwe by birth entitled to citizen identity documents, travel documents and with the right to leave and enter Zimbabwe unconditionally and in perpetuity,” Pilbrough said.

“The conduct of the first respondent has led to this application at great financial cost to me and it is my request that I be allowed to recover my costs from the first respondent at the rate at which I am actually incurring them.”-amh

Sulumani Chimbetu fined $100

Sulumani Chimbetu has been fined $100 for failing to pay $800 maintenance fees for his two children on time.

SULU ON POTATO DEBT :i OWE NOTHiNG

Chimbetu (35) defaulted paying maintenance for April this year and later paid the money on June 12. He was given an option of 20 days in prison and the $100 fine is to be paid on or before July 28. In his ruling, Harare magistrate Ms Annia Ndiraya said letting Chimbetu walk way was tantamount to condoning wrongdoing.

“Maintenance involves the interest of minor children,” she said. “You pleaded not guilty and wasted the court’s time and resources. For the accused to say the maintenance order did not specify the date of payment is promoting lawlessness and is clearly mischievous.”

Prosecutor Mrs Devoted Nyagano urged the court to order community service for Chimbetu. “He is now a visitor to the court on maintenance issues,” she said. “He only pays when he is arrested. Last year, he also paid after coming to court and the matter was withdrawn.”

Chimbetu, through his lawyer Mr Conwell Mutevhe, said not many people spend $800 on the upkeep of a whole family, let alone two children who go to a Government school.
“The hefty maintenance is punitive and he is taking action to have it varied down- wards. He does not depend on a salary and that is affecting his ability to satisfy the order. He is now in debt trying to satisfy the order. The complainant said she is a hustler, but she hustles in the maintenance court. She is settling personal goals.”

Chinotimba dragged to court over $15 000 power debt accumulated through the operation of his grinding mill

Buhera South MP Joseph Chinotimba has been taken to the High Court by the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), which is seeking to compel the legislator to settle a $15 058 electricity debt accumulated through the operation of his grinding mill.

BY CHARLES LAITON

According to the court papers, the grinding mill in question is located at the MP’s premises in Concession.

Through its lawyers Muvingi and Mugadza Legal Practitioners, the power utility said in accordance with the agreement it entered into with Chinotimba, it supplied electricity at his grinding mill, but the legislator had reneged on fulfilling the contractual agreement.

“In accordance with the above-mentioned Act (Electricity) and terms and conditions fixed in the plaintiff’s licence, and at the defendant’s (Chinotimba) request and instance, the plaintiff connected the defendant for the purpose of receiving a supply of electricity at its premises, namely Chinotimba grinding mill, Concession under service number 2286247,” ZETDC said in its declaration.

“In terms of the billing structure, all invoiced amounts were due and payable at the end of each month by the plaintiff. The defendant was supplied with electricity and the plaintiff also charged interest on outstanding amounts at the rate of 0,42% per month. As at June 13, 2017, an amount of $15 058,40 was outstanding as shown in the statement of accounts . . .”

Although Chinotimba is yet to respond to the lawsuit, ZETDC maintains the MP was failing and/or neglecting to service the debt, hence it had approached the court for recourse.

“Despite several demands, the defendant has failed and/or neglected to pay the outstanding amount as claimed by the plaintiff,” the power utility said.

Woman knocks rapist out with rock

A suspected Gokwe rapist’s luck ran out when he was bashed with a big stone at the back of his head while attempting to rape a woman (46) in front of her daughter whom he had just raped.

Gokwe magistrate Mrs Sithabile Zungula yesterday heard how Edmore Chikowore (21) armed with an iron bar held the two women hostage last Sunday.

The court session was held at a bed side in Gokwe District Hospital, where Chikowore is recovering.

He allegedly raped the 20-year-old woman while her terrified mother watched.

Then, Chikowore allegedly grabbed the elderly woman and tried to force himself on her.

The court heard that the woman’s daughter, her movements muffled by her mother’s screams, picked up a stone and bashed Chikowore on the head.

The magistrate remanded Chikowore on his hospital bed, in custody to July 18.

She did not ask Chikowore to plead and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.

Chikowore who was clad in prison garb, with a bandaged head, was ordered to sit up on his hospital bed for the court session.

Prosecutor Mr John Chaisva told the court that on July 2 at Makwaike Village, the complainant was walking with her mother when they met Chikowore who was armed with an iron rod.

Mr Chaisva said Chikowore told the mother and daughter that he wanted to have sexual intercourse with both of them.

The court heard that Chikowore threatened to kill the pair with his iron rod if they refused to sleep with him.

“The accused ordered the 20-year-old woman to lie down on the ground before he raped her once while her mother watched,” said Mr Chaisva.

The court heard that once he was done with the woman, Chikowore ordered her mother to lie on her back at the same spot.

Mr Chaisva said as Chikowore positioned himself on top of the woman, her daughter rapped the back of his head with a stone.

“As he writhed on the ground, the complainant and her mother called for help,” he said.

The court heard members of the public apprehended Chikowore who was bleeding profusely.

They took him to Gokwe District Hospital where he is recovering under prison guard.-Chronicle

WATCH: Bus conductor gets leg broken in nasty fight with traffic cops

Harare – Police in Zimbabwe say they will investigate a case of alleged brutality by officers in central Harare after a conductor they were wrestling with had his leg broken under the wheel of his own bus.

In the video the conductor kicks metal spikes away from the wheels while being manhandled by two police officers. But as one officer wrestles with him, the bus moves off and that’s when the man’s left foot appears to be run over.

Watch the video below

The man collapses in the middle of the road as people gather around to witness the scene. Other officers join their colleagues and they whistle for another commuter bus to stop to take the injured man away. There is a roar of pain as the police officers lift him and his left foot appears to hang limp.

One of the by-standers in the video can be heard to shout, “police brutality”.

The video, which has been viewed more than 120 000 times since it was first posted on Friday, has provoked anger from ordinary Zimbabweans on social media.

Police spokesperson Charity Charamba told state ZBC radio on Thursday that police were investigating the incident.

“As it stands it is very difficult to comment on a video on social media which has not been reported at any of our police stations,” she said.

“It is being investigated but we also want that complainant to come forward.”

The use of metal spikes by police at checkpoints is controversial as the spikes sometimes cause accidents.

High Court Saves Home Affairs Minister Ignatius Chombo From Bulawayo Sex Workers

THE High Court has dismissed an application by a Bulawayo-based organisation representing prostitutes which was suing Home Affairs Minister Ignatius Chombo and the police for refusing to sanction a march by its members to commemorate International Day to End Violence against Sex Workers.

Sex workers

Sex workers

The International Day to End Violence against Sex Workers is observed annually by sex workers, their advocates, friends and families in several cities around the world on December 17 each year.

The ruling by the Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Martin Makonese follows an application by Sexual Rights Centre which sought an order interdicting police from interfering with its future marches.

The organisation also wanted an order declaring the prohibition of its march, which was scheduled for December 17 last year, a violation of its members’ rights.

Sexual Rights Centre last year applied to the police in Bulawayo seeking permission to hold a march in Bulawayo.

Police, who are the regulating authority in terms of the Public Order and Security Act (Posa), refused to grant the organisation permission to demonstrate, arguing that prostitution was an illegal practice in the country.

In papers before the court, Sexual Rights Centre cited Minister Chombo, Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri and Chief Superintendent Fungai Dengu, the officer commanding police in Bulawayo Central District, as the respondents.

Justice Makonese said prostitution was associated with immorality.

“The court does not operate in a vacuum and has to be sensitive to the acceptable moral standards of the society it operates in. It cannot be said that the sex industry is something that can be glorified or celebrated even in an open and democratic society,” said the judge.

He said although sex workers ply their trade for the purpose of fending for their families, societal values and expectations do not promote prostitution as a legitimate means of earning a living.

“It is not a trade the young generation is encouraged to emulate. It is a trade devoid of moral values and is demeaning and the normative values in our jurisdiction do not sit well with the promotion and glorification of sex trade and what it represents,” said Justice Makonese.

The judge said the promotion of sex work by holding commemorative marches further stigmatises sex workers.

“If this court allows prostitutes to parade, promote and glorify their trade, other groups of like-minded persons will be encouraged to promote perverse acts. A court of law cannot sanction such an absurdity. I am of the view that the enjoyment of the fundamental rights under section 58 and 59 of the constitution must recede and give way to the values of decency, human dignity and morality.

“I hereby dismiss the application with costs,” ruled Justice Makonese.

Sexual Rights Centre, through its lawyers Phulu and Ncube Legal Practitioners, said police had no legal basis to bar its members from staging a march, arguing that the cops’ actions was a violation of their constitutional rights.

Mr Humphrey Melusi Ndondo, who is director of the organisation, in his founding affidavit, said the march sought to bring to the fore the challenges faced by sex workers in the country as they go through day-today business.

“We merely wish to exercise our constitutional rights to freely demonstrate and assemble peacefully. We do not intend to harm anyone, but to create awareness on acts of violence and abuse perpetrated against sex workers,” said Mr Ndondo.

“Many sex workers and women in Zimbabwe and around the world are victims of harassment, stigma and violence. The first respondent (Chief Supt Dengu)’s decision to deny us the right to demonstrate is based on misinterpretation of the law and therefore it was unlawful and irrational.”-Chronicle

A 39-year-old Macheke man is admitted at Wedza Hospital after three suspected female rapists allegedly took turns to sexually abuse him.

Female Rapists

Female Rapists

Police are trying to track down the suspects who were using a BMW with South African registration numbers.

The complainant is said to be in a stable condition at the hospital where he is nursing a severely bruised manhood, among other effects from the sexual abuse.
Efforts to get a comment from police at their Mashonaland East provincial headquarters were fruitless yesterday.

But according to firsthand information obtained by this paper, on July 2, at around 5pm, the complainant whose name cannot be published to protect his identity, was at Makoni bus stop in Chitungwiza waiting for transport to Marondera enroute to Macheke where he works as a teacher.

A dark blue BMW with South African number plates allegedly offered him a lift to Marondera. The vehicle had three females and a male.

The complainant occupied the back seat with two of the women. It is alleged that along the way, the complainant was offered a cordial juice, which he accepted.
After taking the drink, he felt dizzy and fell asleep.

On July 3, at around 2pm, the complainant woke up and found out that he was in a small dark room and that his manhood was severely bruised. He also realised that his cash amounting to $120 was missing.

Two women allegedly entered the room and demanded sexual intercourse but he refused. One of the women produced a pistol and threatened to kill him.

The women then tied the complainant’s hands and forcibly offered him another bottle of juice which he drank.

One of the women allegedly then removed her clothes and started caressing the complainant before having sexual intercourse with him.

After the act, the other woman then had unprotected sex with the victim despite pleas from her colleagues to stop abusing him.

On July 4, at around 7pm, the suspects allegedly masked the complainant with a woollen hat and forced him into the vehicle.

They drove on a gravel road for about 30km before entering into Wedza-utiweshiri road where they dumped the victim at Maruta Village.

The suspects gave the complainant his cell phone and drove towards Murambinda.

The complainant was assisted by well-wishers who then reported the matter at Wedza Police Station.

Police officers attended the scene while the victim was taken to Wedza Rural Hospital where he is admitted and is in a stable condition.-AMH

Witch hunters in bid to kill magistrates in Gweru

BUSINESS at the Gweru Magistrates’ Court was brought to a standstill on Friday after two self-proclaimed tsikamutandas arrived at the court looking for two magistrates and an interpreter saying they wanted to kill them.

Musiiwa Denhere (46) of Mkoba 20 Suburb arrived at the Gweru magistrates’ court at 2PM in the company of an aide whose name could not be established.

The two demanded to see Midlands provincial magistrate Mrs Phathekile Msipa, magistrate Ms Judith Taruvinga and interpreter Ms Mulungile Maduma aiming to kill them, but no reasons were given.

Court officials called the police who arrested the pair.

When The Chronicle arrived at the court police post, the two tsikamutandas were being interrogated before they were taken to Gweru Central Police Station.

Chief Magistrate Mr Mishrod Guvamombe said he could not comment on the matter as he was in Bulawayo and no report on the case had been made to him.

However, a source at the court said Denhere produced a piece of paper and read out the names of his intended three victims.

“Two tsikamutandas arrived at the court just after 2PM demanding to see Mrs Msipa, Ms Taruvinga and Ms Maduma. One of them, a prominent tsikamutanda called Denhere, took out from his pocket a piece of paper before he read the names of the boss Mrs Msipa, Ms Taruvinga and Ms Maduma. He said he wanted to see them first- to see if they existed before he executed his plan to kill them,” said a court official on condition of anonymity.

Denhere is not new to controversy.

In January, he went to Gweru Central Police station seeking assistance to allegedly recover his goblins from a prominent local prophet Luke Chivasa.

Denhere also threatened prophet Chivasa and his congregants with death through road accidents if he did not return his goblins.

He alleged that he decided to repent from his evil ways sometime last year by joining prophet Chivasa’s church and surrendered the goblins saying there was no peace in his life.

He said he approached the police after failed negotiations with the prophet on several attempts to recover his goblins.

Denhere later reported that Prophet Chivasa had returned his goblins.

Prophet Chivasa could not be reached for comment but he is on record as saying that he has since approached his lawyers to sue Denhere for defamation of character.-Zimpapers

Tawanda Ben Zulu 39 of Ransburg low density suburb appeared before Shurugwi resident Magistrate Sangster Tavengwa indecent assault as defined in section 67 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform )Act chapter 9: 23.

Prosecuting, Nyengeterai Nechirava told the court that on the 10th day of July 2017 at Vastraft Investments offices, Tawanda Ben Zulu got into Thelma Sophia Frankins’ (31) office and started dancing to the music the complainant was playing; suddenly the accused person started caressing the complainant’s breasts without her consent.

The complainant refrained herself from the accused and reported the incident to the company security guard who later escorted the accused from the company premises before filing a police report which led to the incarceration of the accused person.

In his defence Zulu argued that he did not intentionally fondle the complaints breasts but rather he wanted to give her a big up but the complainant moved her hand away leading the accused to have contact with the complainant’s breasts.
“Mambo wangu mhosva yandinopomerwa ndinoiramba handina kubata Zamu remumhang’ari, asi ndakangotambanudza ruoko rwangu ndichida kumhoresa mumhang’ari nebig up sezvataiita mazuva ese but akanzvengesa ruoko rwake ndikaguma Zamu rake rekuruboshwe,” said Zulu.Translated to English as; your worship I deny the allegations that I fondled the complainant’s breasts but what really transpires is that I wanted to give the complainant a big up as we usually do but she moved her hand away leading to my hand coming into contact with her left breast.

Sentencing, Magistrate Sangster Tavengwa slapped Zulu with a $200 fine and failure to pay would substitute the fine with a 3months prison sentence.
